IAC SOFTBALL: S-VE NOTCHES 7th SHUTOUT WITH WIN OVER CANDOR

SPENCER — S-VE cranked out 15 hits while Rhiana Lawrence and Sydney Presher combined for 18 strikeouts as the Panthers recorded their seventh shutout of the season, defeating neighboring Candor, 10-0, in IAC South Small School softball action here Monday.
Lawrence helped her own cause at the plate, scoring the game-winning run in her first at-bat. She led off the bottom of the second inning with a double and, following a pair of errors, scored on Katelyn Klym’s groundout.
Faith Brenchley would reach on an error and score, and S-VE would strand a runner at third.
The Indians would leave a runner at the hot corner as well after Isabel Mackie singled with one away in the second and moved up two bases.
Lawrence fanned seven straight batters before Shelby Swartz connected for a one-out double in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Adrienna Farmer singled and scored in the second to make it 3-0.
In the third, Raegan Sudnikovich singled and scored on Klym’s RBI triple, Klym would tally on a Hannah Martinez base hit, and Masrtinez scored on a Presher single to make it 6-0.
The S-VE bats continued to click in the fourth. Sudnikovich and Klym smacked back-to-back doubles with Klym picking up her third RBI of the game. Martinez followed with an RBI single and Gillian Jackman reached base on an error. With two down, Presher connected for a two-run single to close out the scoring.
Addie Aman added a one-out single in the sixth but was unable to advance.
In the seventh, Chloe White reached on a two-out error and Sierra Schweiger followed with a walk, but Presher struck out the next batter to end the game.
Martinez and Farmer paced S-VE with three hits each while Lawrence, Sudnikovich, Klym and Presher contributed two hits apiece, and Smith tacked on one.
On Wednesday, S-VE (8-0) hosts Tioga and Candor (1-3) hosts Newfield.
