STAC SOFTBALL: OWEGO REBOUNDS WITH ROUT OVER CHENANGO FORKS (2022-04-12)

BINGHAMTON — Owego rebounded from a tough loss the previous day to crush Chenango Forks, 13-0, in six innings in STAC softball action here Tuesday.

Lauren Gilbert twirled a one-hitter, striking out 11 batters over five innings. Taylor Dalton came on in relief to record the final three outs of the game.

The offense had what coach Brent Doane termed a “breakout” game, pounding out 18 hits.

Ava Brown led the way, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple and two RBI. Alex Aubel went 4-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs. Sarah Terry and Jordan Greeno each added a double.

Owego built a comfortable lead early, scoring three runs in the top of the first, then tacking on four more in the second.

The Indians put the game away with four more runs in the fifth and a pair in the sixth.

Also contributing to the offensive barrage were Sophia Palladino and Brooklyn Gaurnier with two hits and two RBI apiece, and Chelsea Rollison with two hits. Dalton, Greeno, Brown and Terry scored two runs each.

Owego (2-3) is off until Tuesday when it hosts Seton Catholic (0-2).
