IAC SOFTBALL: S-VE ROLLS TO ANOTHER LOPSIDED VICTORY (2022-04-09)

SPENCER — The S-VE continues to roll, this time to the tune of a six-inning, 15-0 shutout of Watkins Glen here Friday.

The Panthers put the game out of reach with seven runs in the fifth inning, then ended the contest via the mercy rule with three more in the sixth.

Gillian Jackman got things fired up in the bottom of the fifth with a lead-off single, then Adrienna Farmer walked and Cheylee Campbell followed with a two-run single. Aubrie Kastenhuber reached on a fielder’s choice, Rhiana Lawrence made it on an error and Faith Brenchley belted a three-run home run. Raegan Sudnikovich scored the final run of the inning, reaching on an error and scoring on a fielder’s choice.

In the seventh, Kastenhuber doubled, Brenchley tripled and Sudnikovich drew a base on balls, and all three scored.

S-VE opened the scoring in the second inning with runs by Hannah Smith, Farmer and Kaili Root.

Sudnikovich scored a run in the third and Root added one in the fourth.

Brenchley had two hits on the day and drove in five runs, Sudnikovich tallied three runs, Kastenhuber collected two hits and two runs, Jackman and Lawrence added two hits and one run apiece, Campbell had a hit, run and RBI, Farmer and Root scored two runs each, and Smith tacked on a run.

Lawrence struck out eight, and allowed two hits and one walk.

S-VE (5-0), which has outscored its opponents, 81-3, is off until April 18 when it travels to Newfield.
