STAC SOFTBALL: OWEGO UNABLE TO HOLD LEAD IN LOSS (2022-04-09)

OWEGO — Windsor rallied from an early deficit to down Owego, 9-5, in STAC softball action here Friday.
Down, 3-0, the Black Knights grouped two doubles, a triple and a walk together to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning.
A walk, steal and single pushed the lead to 5-3 in the fourth, then combined a walk and error for a 6-3 advantage in the fifth.
Owego tried to mount a comeback in the sixth.
Taylor Dalton walked, moved to third on an error off the bat of Alex Aubel and scored when Lauren Gilbert hit into a fielder’s choice.
Aubel advanced to third on the fielder’s choice and scored on Ava Brown’s single.
A walk to Sophia Palladino loaded the bases, but Andrea Medovich retired the next two batters to avoid further damage.
The Knights extended their lead to 9-5 in the seventh on an error, walk, hit batter, dropped third strike and a ground ball out.
Owego scored its initial runs in the first inning, taking a 3-0 lead.
Dalton led off with a base on balls, Aubel singled and Gilbert walked. With the bases loaded, Dalton scored on a passed ball, then Brown delivered a two-run single to right field.
Brown went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Indians at the plate. Aubel had a hit and two runs, Dalton scored twice, Gilbert added a run and an RBI, and Maddie Bennett had a hit.
Windsor improved to 1-0-1 with the win.
Owego (1-2) hosts Chenango Valley (2-0-1) Monday.
