IAC SOFTBALL: S-VE PULLS AWAY FROM DRYDEN FOR 13-3 VICTORY (2022-04-05)

Tioga County Sports Report
DRYDEN — Katelyn Klym belted a 3-run double to highlight a seven-run uprising in the fifth inning as S-VE pulled away from Dryden for a 13-3 IAC softball victory here Tuesday.

The Panthers sent 10 batters to the plate to break open a 1-1 deadlock.

Adrienna Farmer led off with a single and Rhiana Lawrence followed with a base hit, then Faith Brenchley reached on an error. Next up was Raegan Sudnikovich, who delivered an RBI single. Hannah Martinez followed that with a single, then Klym smacked her double. Dakota Jackman added a single, then the Purple Lions’ Kahlen Cornell struck out the next three batters to halt the damage.

The Panthers scored a run with two down in the first inning, but Dryden would knot the score in the third when Chloe Russell doubled and scored.

A pair of S-VE errors helped the Lions (1-1) score two more runs in the fifth, cutting the lead to 8-3, but S-VE added three runs in the sixth inning and tacked on another pair in the seventh.

Lawrence struck out seven over six innings, allowing two walks and two hits. Sidney Presher pitched the seventh giving up a walk while striking out one.

Cornell fanned 11 batters, but gave up nine hits and four walks.

S-VE (3-0) visits Odessa-Montour (0-1) Wednesday.
