CANDOR / SPENCER — Candor returns to the diamond with hopes of being a challenger in the IAC South Small School division.

“We look to improve from last year's shortened season and improve our offensive numbers,” coach Mike Swartz said. “The team has worked hard this preseason, although we have seen limited time outside due to the weather and field conditions.”

To challenge for a division title, the Indians will rely heavily on three of last year’s four IAC all-stars. All seniors, they will play vital roles at key positions this spring.

The battery is made up of pitcher Anna Greeno and catcher Addie Aman while Shelby Swartz will anchor down first base.

“All three will provide offensive production in the lineup,” Swartz said.

“We also return seniors Sierra Schweigger, Chloe White, and Kristi White, who will help solidify the defense behind Greeno.

The coach expects newcomer Jillian Holme, an 8th-grader, to “see significant time at shortstop and will help to add to the offensive production at the top of the lineup.”

Candor will miss the services of shortstop Asia Curkendall, a .426 hitter, who is on both the softball and volleyball rosters at Elmira College.
