ROCHESTER — Cassidy Hoffmier singled and scored on Marissa Berghorn’s sacrifice fly to break a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning and Nazareth went on to win its home opener, 3-2, over Alfred State here Thursday.

Both players are Newark Valley grads and sophomores for the Golden Flyers.

Berghorn is hitting .306 (11-for-36) with two doubles, a walk and five runs.

A catcher, she has a .961 fielding percentage with 71 putouts, three assists and three errors.

Nazareth (6-6) visits Keuka College (0-6) Saturday, then heads to Elmira College (2-4) Sunday.
