YOUTH WRESTLING: CANDOR’S ZIMMER GRABS SILVER AT NYWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS (2022-03-25)

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Candor 6th-grader Brennan Zimmer garnered runner-up honors at the 2022 NYWAY State Championships here recently.
Competing at 102 pounds in Division 7, he went 4-1, including a fall and a major decision.
Representing the Independent Wrestling Club, dropped his opener to Barrett David of Ruthless Aggression Wrestling, 7-3, but bounced back strong.
He scored an 11-3 major over Jordin Eddy of the WRCL Wrestling Club, then dispatched Jack Kuhn of NWAA in 27 seconds.
In Round 4, Zimmer blanked Nicholas Raptis, 6-0, then closed out the tournament with a 6-1 decision over Landyn Dignean of Proper-ly Trained.
Two of Zimmer's IWC teammates also placed in the top four.
Horseheads’ Connor McAllister finished second and Waverly’s Avery Bowman took fourth.
The Tioga Tiger 3-Style club boasted several place-winners also.
Emily Sindoni racked up five falls to capture the title at 126 pounds in Girls Division 4.
She spent just over six minutes on the mat combined, with a quick pin of 36 seconds.
Kyah Nelson of took second in Girls Division 3, 135-145 pounds.
She also took fourth in Boys Division 7, 155 pounds.
Taylor Sindoni finished fourth in Girls Division 2, 75-82 pounds.
John-Michael Fanning placed fifth in Division 7, 70 pounds.
