COLLEGE SWIMMING: OWEGO GRAD SHOEN CLOCKS TOP 10 TIME

YPSILANTI, Mich. — Owego grad Katie Shoen
has earned a spot on the Eastern Michigan University top 10 list in the 50-yard freestyle.
The junior recorded the program’s eighth fastest time at the Mid-American Conference championships, posting a time of 23.15 seconds in the preliminaries. That bettered her seed time of :23.9. She went on to place eighth, clocking :23.35.
She was also a member of the 200 free relay which finished eighth with a time of 1:53.11.
Shoen captured several runner-up finishes in the 50 free at dual meets during the season. They included :24.15 against Bowling Green, :24.2 vs. Akron, :24.28 against Oakland, and :23.9 against Ball State.
She was also third with a :24.29 against Miami of Ohio.
At the Denison Invitational, Shoen placed second in the B final (11th overall) in 23.92 seconds.
In the 200 free relay, EMU took fifth with a 1:34.95 with Shoen swimming the anchor leg. She led off the 200 medley relay, which finished seventh (exhibition) in 1:46.65.
