COLLEGE SWIMMING: OWEGO GRAD PIERCE HAS STRONG SEASON AT UMASS (2022-03-10)

BOSTON — Owego grad Summer Pierce enjoyed a strong season at UMass, racking up several impressive finishes.

As the Minutewomen posted a 3-0 dual meet record, the junior competed on the winning 200-yard medley relays against Boston University (1:46.95), Mount Holyoke (1:55.76) and Bryant College (1:47.21). She also knocked more than six seconds off her seed time as she captured the 200 butterfly at the BU Terrier Invitational (2:02.3).

Pierce was the runner-up in the 200 fly against BU (2:08.49) and Bryant (2:11.03), and in the 400 medley relay at Colgate’s Justin Jennings Invitational (3:55.43).

She added thirds in the 400 medley relay at the Terrier Invitational (3:46.15) and the 200 medley relay at Dartmouth’s Tate Ramsden Invitational (1:48.8).

Fourth-place efforts came against BU in the 100 fly (:59.09), Bryant in the 100 fly (:59.49) and 200 individual medley (2:15.99), at the Justin Jennings Invitational (100 breaststroke (1:09.22), and at the Terrier INvitational in the 200 medley relay (1:43.52) and the 100 fly (:55.87).

At the Atlantic 10 championships, Pierce placed sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:42.32) and the 200 fly (2:01.87), took eighth in the 400 medley relay (3:44) and won the 100 fly consolation final (:55.49).
