IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY'S QUICK START TOO MUCH FOR NEWARK VALLEY (2022-01-19)

NEWARK VALLEY — Waverly pumped out 22 points in the first quarter and 23 more in the second en route to a 75-26 IAC South Large School boys basketball victory over Newark Valley here Wednesday.

The Wolverines were solid defensively as well, holding NV to single digits in every quarter.

Joey Tomasso and Brennan Traub scored six points apiece in the first period and Tomasso added another six in the second.

Nine different players found the inside of the rim for Waverly, which has earned honorable mention status in the Class B state poll..

Tomasso led the way with 17 markers while Traub and Davis Croft contributed 13 points each.

Noah Martin led the Cardinals with seven points. Ethan Skeide had four, Danny Pirger, Jules Etienne and Ryan Chandler chipped in with three apiece, and Landon Spoonhower, Gavin Mann and Troy Middendorf had two each.

NV (2-9) hosts Trumansburg Friday.
