IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR'S QUICK START LEADS TO ROUT OF SOUTHERN CAYUGA (2022-01-17)

POPLAR RIDGE — Candor erupted for 28 first-quarter points and never looked back to rout Southern Cayuga, 61-35, in an IAC boys basketball crossover here Friday.

Zach Watson accounted flor 12 points and Will Zimmer added eight in the Indians' fast start. Watson, Nick Thomas and Hunter Bates knocked down one 3-pointer apiece in the period.

Candor built a 44-18 cushion at the half as Zimmer scored another eight points and Zeb Soper added a three.

Seth McBride canned a three in the third quarter, giving the Indians five treys on the night.

Zimmer led Candor with 22 points. Watson connected for 12 and Thomas added 10. Bates had six, Soper five, and McBride and Cole Strong tacked on three apiece.

Nate Thurston led the Chieftains with 12 points.

The Indians (9-2, 6-1 IAC South Small School) host Tioga (6-6, 5-4 IAC South Small School) Tuesday.
