IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY DEFEATS LANSING, WHITNEY POINT TO IMPROVE TO 9-2 (2022-01-15)

WHITNEY POINT — Newark Valley defeated Lansing, 30-26, in a make-up Wednesday and routed Whitney Point, 39-19, Friday to improve to 9-2 in IAC JV girls basketball action.

The Cardinals rode a 13-4 second-quarter burst to victory. Aubrey Kwiatkowski scored all eight of her points in the surge as NV grabbed an 18-10 halftime lead.

Adrianna Finta added a half-dozen points in the third quarter to keep the lead at eight.

Finta finished the game with 12 points. Adriana Rich, Mackenzie Day, Anaya Aylesworth and Liv Short added four, three, two and one, respectively.

The Bobcats' Marissa Nolan led all scorers with 14 points.

Kwiatkowski and Short scored in double figures to lead the Cardinals to victory.

NV jumped in front, 14-2, after one quarter and never looked back.

Kwiatkowski scored eight of her game-high points in the opening stanza and finished the game with a pair of 3-pointers to her credit.

Short tallied her 13 points fairly evenly over all four quarters.

Finta added eight points and Day tacked on four more.

Maggie Burlison led the Golden Eagles with seven points.
