DRYDEN — Newark Valley held Dryden to single digits in every quarter while putting the game away early and posting a 79-29 IAC girls basketball crossover victory here Friday.

Taylor Benjamin erupted for 16 first-quarter points, including two 3-pointers, and Hayley Beebe tacked on eight points as the Cardinals raced out to a 32-9 advantage in the first quarter.

Hannah Ferguson and Jasmine Graham scored five and four points, respectively, as NV pushed its lead to 52-13 at the half.

Ferguson nailed her second and third treys of the night in the third quarter while Hayley Beebe and Graham added one three apiece.

Gracie Graham drained Newark Valley's eighth three of the contest in the fourth quarter.

Benjamin finished the game with 20 points, six steals, four rebounds and three assists; Ferguson chipped in with 15 points, five boards, three assists and three steals; and Beebe added 13 points, seven steals, three assists and three boards.

Cha Gardner contributed nine points, five rebounds, five steals and two blocks; Gracie Gardner had nine points, four rebounds, three assists and one block; Graham pitched in with seven points, three assists and two steals; Katie Berghorn added two points and three steals; Anna Kaelin had two points and three rebounds; and Faith Payne tacked on two points.

Sindi Pinckney led the Purple Lions with 10 points.

NV (10-1) travels to Newfield Tuesday.
