IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: S-VE OPENS WITH A WIN (2021-11-30)

TRUMANSBURG — Spencer-Van Etten rallied from a 6-point halftime deficit to defeat Trumansburg, 56-53, in an IAC non-league season opener here Tuesday night.

The Blue Raiders posted a 13-9 lead after one quarter and extended their advantage to 30-24 at intermission.

A pair of 3-pointers by Lance Lawton Jr., two more by Connor Stevenson. and another by Ethan Fulton helped T-burg build its halftime advantage.

Marcus Brock scored five of the Panthers' points in the opening period, then cranked out 10 more in the second quarter.

Brock would end up with a team-high 20 points, tacking on five more points in the second half.

Jewell, who had six points through the first three periods, logged nine points in the final period.

Jayden Grube scored nine points and Aiden Swayze added seven for S-VE.

The Panthers connected 0n 16 of their 28 free throw attempts with Brock going 6-for-7 and Jewell going 7-for-10.

Stevenson led the Raiders with 18 points, Lucas Taves added 11 and and Lawton tacked on 10.

S-VE heads to the Lansing Tip-off Tournament Friday to face the host Bobcats.
