NEW YORK STATE GIRLS SOCCER: OWEGO'S JORGENSEN NAMED TO ALL-STATE TEAM (2021-11-29)

OWEGO — Owego's Carmen Jorgensen has been selected to the 2021 New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports All-State Girls Soccer team. A senior, she was chosen as a Class B fifth team attacker.

Jorgensen has been a member of the varsity squad since her freshman season.

"She has skilled footwork and a powerful shot that took many opponents by surprise," Owego coach Heather Chrysler said. "She took a lot of our direct kicks and was successful at scoring from 15 to 20 yards out. 

"Carmen was named captain due to her commitment to the team and positive leadership style.  She always found a way to have fun and laugh, and her teammates looked up to her. Carmen was an essential player at striker and attacking mid and created many attacking opportunities." 

Jorgensen scored 18 goals and dished out seven assists. Her career totals included 45 goals and 22 assists.

Owego posted a 9-3-2 record this season and was the Section IV Class B co-champion with Chenango Valley. CV would edge the Indians in a sudden victory penalty kick shootout to earn the section's spot in the state tournament.
