NEW YORK STATE GIRLS SOCCER: OWEGO'S McDONALD SELECTED TO ALL-STATE TEAM (2021-11-29)

OWEGO — Owego's Erin McDonald has been named to the 2021 New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports All-State Girls Soccer fourth team. A sophomore, she has been named to the Class B fourth team as a midfielder.

McDonald led the Indians in both goals and assists with 27 goals and nine assists. Through three seasons she has chalked up 45 goals and 22 assists.

"Erin is a standout player with well-developed foot skills that have enabled her to take control of the attack and lead our team offensively," Owego coach Heather Chrysler said. "Erin frustrates her opponents with her level of skill and knowledge of the game and her confidence has grown tremendously the last few seasons.

"Although Erin primarily played forward and mid this season, she is a player who can be effective in any position on the field."

Owego posted a 9-3-2 record this season and was the Section IV Class B co-champion with Chenango Valley. CV would edge the Indians in a sudden victory penalty kick shootout to earn the section's spot in the state tournament.
