COLLEGE SWIMMING: OWEGO GRAD SHOEN STARTS SEASON WITH SOLID SHOWINGS (2021-11-09)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Eastern Michigan University sophomore Katie Shoen placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in the season opener, clocking 24.15 seconds.

An Owego grad, she was also part of the third-place 400 free relay with a time of 3:33.34.

The Eagles defeated Bowling Green, 168-131, in the Mid-American Conference meet.

Shoen grabbed second-place honors in the 50 free in 24.2 seconds and was part of the runner-up 200 free relay (1:36.52) in a 161-138 MAC loss to Akron Saturday.

EMU's next meet is Friday at Oakland.
