Summer Pierce swam a leg of the second-place 400-yard medley relay at the Colgate Invitational to open the season. The quartet posted a time of 3:55.43.
The Owego grad also finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.22, sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.15), sixth in the 100 butterfly (:58.96), sixth in the 400 free relay (3:43.31) and 11th out of 30 swimmers in the 200 free (2:00.39).
The Minutewomen won the meet.
UMass also defeated Boston University in its first dual meet of the season, 155-145.
Pierce swam a leg of the 200 medley relay, which won with a time of 1:46.95, was the runner-up in the 200 fly (2:08.49) and took fourth in the 100 fly (:59.09).
UMass returns to BU this weekend for the Terrier Invitational, then breaks until mid-January.
