STAC MODIFIED CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO SWEEPS METRO TITLES (2021-10-13)

OWEGO — The Owego boys captured five of the top six positions and the girls placed four runners in the top 10 as the Indians' modified runners swept the team honors at the STAC Metro Cross Country Championships here Tuesday.

BOYS
Magavin Allen dominated the field, winning with a time of 8:49. Gavin Heath was the only other runner to cross the finish line in under 10 minutes, clocking 9:46.

Javin Belokur posted a time of 10:50 and Levi ran a 10:57 to give the Indians a 1-2-3-4 finish. Caden Wasileski claimed sixth place in 11:18.2 to give the hosts 16 points, well ahead of runner-up Chenango Valley's 51. Chenango Forks and Seton Catholic had incomplete teams.

Also competing for Owego were Connor Kotski (11th, 12:11) and Max Thompson (23rd, 13:53.1).

GIRLS
Abby McHugh and Lily-May Wheeland crossed the line ahead of the rest of the ladies in a photo finish with McHugh clocking in at 11:18 and Wheeland posting an 11:18.1.

Maddie Webb finished fifth in 12:27, Nora Schuyler was ninth in 14:12 and Aubrey Ellis was 11th with a 15:18.

Also running for Owego was Eleanora Palmer, 13th with a 15:19.

The Indians head to the Marathon Invitational Saturday.
