COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: TIOGA COUNTY CONNECTION KEY CONTRIBUTORS TO BROOME CC's 6-0 START (2021-10-07)

Tioga County Sports Report
BINGHAMTON — Success on the volleyball court is no stranger to players who have competed for Owego and Tioga. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that a Tioga County connection has been instrumental in helping Broome Community College begin the season with six straight victories.

Owego grads Macey Gibson, Maddy Powell, Mackenzie Struble and Sara Zepkowski, and Tioga grad Bri Rossi have combined for 186 assists, 169 digs, 158 service points, 112 kills and 37 blocks.

The Hornets won the first 10 sets of the season as they swept Jefferson, Cayuga and Onondaga community colleges before defeating Erie CC, 3-1.

BCC, ranked third in the Region III Coaches Poll, followed up Saturday with a 3-1 upset of Finger Lakes CC, the No. 1 team in the poll at the time, and a 3-1 victory over previously undefeated and No. 2 Monroe CC Tuesday.

Gibson posted a triple-double against Erie, recording 10 kills, 10 points and 11 digs. She also had double-doubles against FLCC (20 digs, 11 points) and Monroe (15 digs, 10 1/2 points).

Zepkowski had a double-double against Onondaga (10 kill, 11 1/2 points) and against Monroe (10 kills 12 points).

Struble had double-doubles against FLCC with 43 assists and 15 digs and against Monroe (41 assists, 11 digs).

Rossi contributed 14 digs against Monroe.

The Hornets host Keystone College, a 4-year school, in an exhibition at 6 p.m. this evening (10/7), then return to Division III action Saturday at home against Niagara County Community College (3-5).
