STAC GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING: OWEGO WINS 6 OF 11 EVENTS IN LOSS TO NORWICH (2021-10-06)

OWEGO — Despite being heavily understaffed, Owego won six of the 11 events it entered in a 77-61 STAC girls swimming and diving loss to Norwich here Tuesday.
The Indians have five athletes on their roster, Norwich has 14.
Allie Shoen won two individual events and swam on two victorious relays while Kaelyn Katchuk and Emma Pawlak won one individual event apiece and joined Shoen on the relays.
Shoen captured the 200-yard individual medley by more than 19 seconds with a time 3:01.33 and won the 100 backstroke in 1:17.85.
Katchuk posted a score of 248.8 points to win the diving competition.
Pawlak's victory came in the 100 freestyle where she clocked 1:06.54, more than 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
In the 200 medley relay, Shoen, Katchuk and Madison Allen won in 2:30.29. That same quartet took the 200 free relay in 2:09.03.
Owego's second-place swimmers were Allen in the 200 IM (3:20.43) and 100 breaststroke (1:55.88), Pawlak in the 200 free (2:33.29) and Katchuk in the 100 butterfly (1:32.48).
Charlotte Kozak contributed a third in the 500 free (8:53.62) and a fourth in the 50 free (37.78 seconds).
Owego (0-5) visits Susquehanna Valley (1-5) Monday.
