COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO GRAD WATKINS RUNNING WELL AT SUNY CORTLAND (2021-09-28)

CORTLAND — Owego grad Gavin Watkins posted 50th-place time of 27:13.9 at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry F. Anderson Men's Cross Country Invitational Saturday. There were 203 runners entered.

The SUNY Cortland sophomore took 85th out of 335 runners at the University of Rochester's Yellowjacket Invitational Sept. 18.

The Red Dragons placed sixth out of 18 teams

He also recorded an 8K time of 27:52.2 while competing against Division I runners from Cornell, Buffalo and Colgate.

Cortland was eighth in the 16-team field.

Watkins took 10th in the season-opening SUNY Cortland Short Course Cross Country Invitational Sept. 11 with a 6K time of 21:18.8. The Red Dragons were first out of five teams.

Cortland participates in Geneseo's Mike Woods Invitational Saturday.
