IAC VOLLEYBALL: NEWARK VALLEY TOPS S-VE IN FOUR-SET THRILLER (2021-09-22)

SPENCER — Newark Valley won a four-set IAC volleyball thriller over S-VE here Wednesday evening with each game being decide by six or fewer points.

The Cardinals won the first set, 25-23, but Spencer bounced back to even the match with a 25-21 win in game two.

The final two sets would end in NV's favor, 25-22 and 25-19.

The Cardinals' Cha Gardner recorded 11 kills, two blocks and three digs; Gracie Gardner added seven kills, an ace, a block and a dig; and Jasmine Graham contributed five kills, an ace and nine digs.

Katie Greene had 10 digs and an ace; Kalyna Graham tacked on four kills and one dig; Tatiana Tarbox pitched in with six digs and an ace; Joslyn Wright had nine digs; Jenna Hanson had a kill and two digs.

Marah Cooper had seven kills, 11 digs and three aces for S-VE; Sophia Dutra registered eight kills, two aces and two blocks; Ajsa Zakova dished out 18 assists to go with six digs, four kills and three aces; and Lynsey Frye chipped in with 14 digs and an ace.

The Panthers also received three kills, three digs and an ace from Kaili Root; four digs from Sydney Myrick; three kills, an ace and an assist from Lauren Slofkosky; Three digs from CC Churey and an ace from Alissa Knapp.

NV (3-2) hosts Newfield Thursday and S-VE (2-3) visits Tioga Friday.

JV: Newark Valley rallied to win, 2-1, taking the last two sets, 26-24 and 25-22. S-VE took the opening game, 25-13.

Adriena Farmer had nine kills, four aces, two blocks and two digs; Faith Brenchley posted two kills, 10 digs, six assists and four aces; Makana Diboun added nine assists, seven digs, an ace and a kill; and Jackie Brown tacked on seven digs.
