MORAVIA — Taya Sousa scored a pair of first-half goals to lead SVEC to a 3-0 Section IV Field Hockey Conference Division 3 shutout of Moravia here Thursday.

Sousa scored the game-winning goal with 5:03 remaining in the first quarter on a feed from Lilly Mills.

Her second score came with 9:02 to go in the second period. Demi Mouillesseaux picked up the assist.

Mouillesseaux would find the back of the cage on a penalty corner with 5:01 left in the first half. Adriana Newman earned the assist.

SVEC held a 7-5 advantage in shots, but the Blue Devils attempted 12 corners to the Eagles' six.

Bella Young made five saves for SVEC and Kylee Miner had four for Moravia.

The Eagles (2-4) visit Newark Valley (1-1) Tuesday.
