IAC VOLLEYBALL: NEWARK VALLEY REBOUNDS WITH SWEEP OF WAVERLY (2021-09-16)

WAVERLY — Newark Valley rebounded from a loss to Edison by sweeping Waverly, 3-0, in IAC South Large School volleyball action here Thursday night.

The Cardinals won by scores of 25-21, 25-11 and 25-18.

Cha Gardner registered seven kills, three aces and three digs for NV while Gracie Gardner and Jasmine Graham recorded six kills, three digs and two aces apiece.

Jenna Hanson dished out 15 assists to go with two digs, a kill and an ace. Joslyn Wright added five digs and three aces; Kalyna Graham had two kills and Katie Greene tacked on an ace and a dig.

For Waverly, Brilynn Bellis scored 11 service points, including seven aces, and had seven digs; Michaela Lauper chipped in with four points, five digs and five assists; and Sydney Nierstedt had three points, two aces and a block.

Lillie Kirk contributed two points and four digs; Peyton Shaw added two points, three kills and three digs; Derek Bartlett had two points, two digs and two blocks; Erica Ryck helped out with two digs.

JV: Newark Valley swept the JV match by scores of 25-7 and 25-15, and took the exhibition set, 25-14.

Newark Valley (2-1) hosts Candor (3-1) Monday.
