Tioga County Sports Report
ROCHESTER — Owego grad Kaylee Kelly, a junior outside hitter for Nazareth College here, has been named an Empire 8 Conference Player to Watch during the 2021 season.

She led the conference in kills with 116 and was named to the All-Empire 8 first team after she and fellow Owego grad McKenzie Hart led the Golden Flyers to their fifth straight Empire 8 championship match this past spring.

Hart, a senior who transitioned from libero to outside hitter last season, was also selected to the All-Empire 8 first team.

Nazareth posted a 3-2 record in Empire 8 regular season play and finished 6-3 overall.

St. John Fisher College will attempt to win its third straight Empire 8 championship when the 2021 season gets underway Sept. 1. Regular season conference play will begin on Sept. 21.

The top five teams will advance to the Empire 8 Championship Tournament, which will take place with first round action taking place Nov. 2. From there, the top four teams will head to the semifinals Nov. 5 and the championship match Nov. 6.

The Empire 8 Champion will receive an automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship.

Fans can watch the action all season long, free of charge, on the Empire 8 Network.
