YOUTH BASEBALL (12U): OWEGO (CARD) DROPS FIRST TWO POOL PLAY GAMES AT U-E TOURNEY (2021-07-19)

ENDICOTT — Owego dropped its first two pool play contests at the Union-Endicott 12U Tournament here, falling to Chenango Forks, 9-2, and U-E (Jones), 9-4.

Wyatt Niles paced Owego with a triple and two runs. Brenden Whigham had a single, Nolan Card scored a run and Everett Wagner drove in a run.

Card allowed just three hits and four earned runs, striking out eight and walking four over three innings.

Forks did most of its damage in the top of the first inning, scoring five runs behind two hits, two walks, two errors and a hit batter.

U-E (Jones) 9, Owego 4
Trailing, 5-0, Owego scored three runs in the top of the fifth, but U-E responded with four runs in its half of the inning.

Elijah Wheeler led Owego with a double, run and RBI. Niles and Mason Henderson each contributed a single and a run, and Evan Canfield added a hit and RBI. Card tacked on a run.

Owego faces Maine-Endwell at 7 p.m. this evening (Monday) at George W. Johnson Park, 201 Oak Hill Ave., Endicott.
