YOUTH BASEBALL (10U): CANDOR BLANKS M-E ON AHART'S ONE-HITTER AT OWEGO TOURNAMENT (2021-07-12)

OWEGO — Brody Ahart hurled a one-hitter as Candor defeated Maine-Endwell (Sonner), 7-0, in the 12C consolation finals of the Owego Little League 10U / 12U Tournament here Monday.

Candor gave Ahart all the run support he would need with a trio of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Walks to Kyle Jantz and Mason Rose, and singles by Donny Mackie and Kellen Williamson got things started. Jantz stole home and Williamson drove in the other two runs.

Walks to Mackie, Williamson, Cooper Dember, Ahart and Wyatt Anderson extended the Candor advantage to 5-0 in the third.

Dember walked and Ahart singled in the fifth with Dember scoring on an error and Ahart reaching home on Link Robinson's ground out.

Williamson had a hit, run and two RBIs; Mackie added a hit and two runs; and Ahart chipped in with a hit, run and RBI. Jantz, Rose and Dember accounted for one run apiece, and Robinson tacked on an RBI.

Ahart struck out nine and walked five.

Candor meets Johnson City (Stallman) for the championship Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. If necessary, a second game will follow at 7:45 p.m.
