YOUTH BASEBALL (10U): OWEGO (SCHRADER) ROLLS TO HIGH-SCORING VICTORY (2021-07-07) Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — Owego (Schrader) opened the double elimination bracket of the Owego Little League 10U Tournament with a weather-shortened 19-1 victory over Vestal (Bertoni) here Wednesday.
Owego scored 18 first-inning runs, sending 23 batters to the plate, then the game was halted in the second inning when thunder rolled into the area. Vestal conceded the game rather than sit through a weather delay.
Adam Harvey and Max Schrader both went 3-for-3 with a walk, scoring three runs apiece.
Max Buchsbaum was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs, and was also hit by a pitch. Harrison Miller and Nolan Whigham went 2-for-2 as well. Both players scored twice and drew a base on balls.
Remmington Morgan contributed a hit, a walk and two runs; Lauren Kotski and Egan Scanlon chipped in with two runs and two walks apiece; and Finn Morgan tacked on a run and a walk.
Miller earned the win, facing 11 batters, striking out four while allowing just one hit.
Owego, which finished second in 10C pool play with a 2-0-1 record, faces No. 3 Maine-Endwell (Chudacik) Friday at 5:30 p.m.
