SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO'S CHRYSLER HIGHLIGHTS TIOGA COUNTY GIRLS' EFFORT AT SECTION IV SHOWCASE (2021-06-12)

Tioga County Sports Report
MARATHON — Owego's Jaelyn Chrysler was the top Tioga County female track & field performer at the Section IV Showcase here Saturday.

The seventh-grader finished as the runner-up in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:49.05. She trailed only Corning standout Sarah Lawson (10:30.86). No other competitor in the 12-runner field was able to break 11 minutes.

Here's a look at the other local efforts.

CANDOR
Mya Marsh placed sixth in the 200 with a time of 28.34 seconds.

Jenna O'Connell took 14th in the 2,000 steeplechase (9:49.47).

NEWARK VALLEY
Leah Williams led the Cardinals with a third-place showing in the triple, leaping 34-0 3/4. She was also 11th in the long jump at 14-9 1/2.

Kathryn Simmons claimed fifth in the 400 hurdles, recording a time of 1:11.76.

Renee Riegel finished sixth in the steeplechase, clocking 8:20.86.

Kylee Carrier took eighth in the discus with a throw of 82-11 and was 13th in shot put with a heave of 26-10 1/4.

Newark Valley's 4x800 relay team of Harley Switzer, Breanna Brigham, Molly McCloskey and Emma Smith placed 12th in 58.91 seconds.

OWEGO
Lilly Bouton claimed seventh in the shot put, heaving the orb 30-0 3/4. She also tossed the discus 77-3, good for 13th.

Maggie Huizinga placed seventh in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-8, and was 13th in the steeplechase with a time of 9:45.33.

NOTE: Tioga's top place-winner was Julia Walsh with a third in the 400 hurdles. Waverly's Olivia Nittinger was Waverly's top individual finisher, taking fifth in the pole vault. The Wolverines also took fifth in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
