NEWARK VALLEY — Leah Williams is going to give Newark Valley soccer fans an opportunity to continue to watch her in action if they so choose. The Cardinal standout signed a National Letter of Intent here Friday to attend Tompkins Cortland Community College.
That's basically a hop, skip and a jump away from home.
"I will play on the soccer team as a forward," she said. "I’m excited to get to play at the next level.
"Soccer has been a great part of my high school experience and I can’t wait to continue playing."
It's too bad the Panthers don't have a track and field program or Williams might have a second sport in which she could excel. She recently shattered the school record in the triple jump, soaring 35 feet, 7 inches to top the runner-up by more than five feet.

Chuck Schneider, Soccer: "Leah will bring leadership and energy to the next level. She is a hard worker and perfected her skills over the years. She has plenty to offer her next team. She will continue to be astonishing on the field."
Eric D'Arcy, Track & Field: "Leah is a 5-year varsity track team member, and a multiple time IAC first-team member. This year she won the IAC triple jump title along with winning the Class C triple jump in a new school record, and the long jump. Leah's triple jump record is almost a foot more than the second best. Leah led the team in points this year. She was also team captain."
Katie Brindisi, Cheerleading: "Leah will bring dedication and teamwork to her college team. She strives for excellence and is always working to better herself and her team."
