COLLEGE BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY'S BEEBE LOOKS TO MAKE HER MARK NEAR FAMOUS LANDMARK (2021-06-11)

Tioga County Sports Report
NEWARK VALLEY — Of the eight Newark Valley seniors who signed a National Letter of Intent here Friday, Brianna Beebe may have chosen the one with the best sight-seeing opportunity.

She has decided to head to Niagara County Community College to play basketball. Of course, if she focuses on her chosen sport like she concentrated on the ones she played at NV, she may not have too much time to enjoy that nearby world-famous landmark known as Niagara Falls.

Beebe wasn't attracted to the falls as much as she was the competitive attitude surrounding the Thunderwolves.

"I chose Niagara because their basketball program's competitive atmosphere and consistent winning record," she said. "Niagara is like one big family, and I think I will fit in well there.

"I feel I have to offer a good work ethic and competitive attitude which in return will help with the success of the team."

While Beebe is looking forward to college hoops, she is also excited about what else the future holds.

"I hope that I will be able to make the best of the last couple years I have left of playing basketball, make new friends, and stay focused on my academics to make a successful life for myself," she said.

Beebe will be studying Secondary Education while majoring in History.

Greg Schweiger, Basketball: "For Bri, basketball is her first love. She is an absolute gym rat, and because of that she developed into one of the best three-point shooters in the league. She is a fierce competitor that will bring a 'win at any cost mentality.'"

Jason Monte, Softball: "Outstanding athlete and super competitive.  Will always give you 110 percent.  She is able to pick things up quickly and has the ability to adapt to any position or situation."

Chuck Schneider, Soccer: "Bri Beebe will bring a competitive spirit and energy to her team. She works hard to improve at every aspect of the game.  Her skills on the soccer field were outstanding and on the court she will be phenomenal."
