MARATHON — Candor's Kara Morse, Alex Cox and the 4x100-meter relay garnered gold at the Section IV Class D3 track & field meet here Wednesday.

Morse cleared 4-11 to win the high jump in front of a couple of cheering teammates and was greeted by high fives and a hug afterward. The next closer competitor fell by the wayside after reaching 4-4.

Two of those cheering teammates, Mya Marsh and Bri Schweiger, teamed up with Morse and Cadri Edwards to win the 4x100 relay, making Morse a double winner. The quartet posted a time of 59.35 seconds.

Cox splashed his way to victory in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:51.28, besting fellow Indians Isaac Lindridge and Ben Dizer.

The first- and second-place finishers in each event qualify for the Section IV Showcase, which will be held here Saturday.

Other qualifiers for the Indians include runners-up Jenna O'Connell in the 2,000 steeplechase (9:49.29), Marsh in the 200 (:27.83), Lindridge in the 3,000 steeplechase (13:09.49) and Ben Dizer in the 400 (:54.92).
