SECTION IV BOYS GOLF: SVEC PLACES THIRD AT CLASS C TOURNAMENT (2021-06-08)

MARATHON — Jacob Banks placed second among 71 competitors to lead SVEC to a third-place showing at the Section IV Class C Boys Golf Championships held at Maple Hill Golf Course here Tuesday.

The Eagle sophomore shot 80 on the par-70 course, trailing only team champion Chenango Forks' Ryan Locke, who carded a 74, and matching the Blue Devils' Emily Gresham.

Forks posted a 426 team score, besting runner-up Lansing (461) and the Eagles (464). Whitney Point, which beat SVEC by 31 strokes for second-place at thew IAC tournament last week, was fourth with 480. Tioga took eighth with 514 points.

The event scored each team's top five golfers. Following Banks for the Eagles were Taylor Brock with a 90, Nathan Gillette at 95, Joey Marsh with a 98 and Tyler Greeno with a 101. Noah Banks shot a non-scoring round of 110.

Marsh, a first-year golfer, is the lone senior of the group.
