Tioga County Sports Report
DRYDEN — Newark Valley rode a pair of three-run bursts to a 10-3 victory over Dryden in IAC softball action here Monday.

Trailing, 2-1, the Cardinals went ahead for good in the top of the third inning. A double by Allie Wandell, a fielder's choice off the bat of Hayley Beebe, singles by Jasmine Graham and Mackenzie Malone, and a sacrifice from Allie Walker helped NV take control of the game. Wandell, Beebe and Graham all scored to make it a 4-1 game.

The Purple Lions would get a run back in their half of the inning, but NV responded with three more runs in the fourth. Rachel Walker, Wandell and Beebe scored, and Malone chalked up her second RBI of the game to highlight the inning and give the Cardinals a 7-3 advantage.

Rachel Walker scored in the fifth, and Graham and Bri Beebe tacked on runs in the sixth to build a 10-3 cushion.

Graham scored the game's initial run after drawing a two-out walk in the first.

Dryden used a walk, two singles and an error to go ahead, 2-1, in their half of the first before Ari Westbrook retired the side.
