OWEGO — Owego broke open a one-run ball game in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to rout Norwich, 17-2, in five innings in STAC softball action here Friday.

The Indians scored single runs in each of the first three innings, then erupted for eight runs in the fourth and tacked on six more in the fifth to end the game via the 15-run mercy rule.

Sarah Terry was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, and Saylor Ayres went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI to lead Owego's 17-hit attack.

Lead-off hitter Taylor Dalton went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI; Jordan Greeno was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI; and Lauren Gilbert was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Maddie Bennett and Carly Kirtland each had a hit, two runs and an RBI; Alex Aubel contributed a hit, run and RBI; Macy Gibson added a hit and two runs; J. Lewis and Brooklyn Gaurnier scored one run apiece; and Jessalyn Corson had one RBI.

Gilbert earned the victory in the circle, allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out six batters.

Owego visits Norwich Saturday at 11 a.m.
