CANDOR — Candor jumped out to a big first-inning advantage and never looked back, defeating Newfield, 15-0, in a 5-inning IAC softball game here Wednesday.

The Indians scored eight runs in their first at-bats, and added a run in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth.

Asia Curkendall had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Anna Greeno was also 3-for-4 at the dish, with two RBI and a sacrifice fly. Not to be outdone, Megan Henry went 3-for-4 as well and tacked on two runs and two RBI.

Addie Aman was 1-for-3 with three runs and Shelby Swartz went 1-for-3 with two runs to bolster Candor's 11-hit effort.

Green spun a three-hitter, striking out four and walking two.

The Indians visit division-leading Elmira Notre Dame Thursday.
