OWEGO — Jordan Greeno scored three runs, Lauren Gilbert and Alex Aubel contributed multiple hits and RBIs, and Gilbert struck out 12 batters as Owego overcame several errors to defeat Sidney, 7-5, in non-league softball action here Wednesday.
The Indians never trailed, but a half-dozen miscues allowed the visitors to stay within striking distance.
Owego pushed two runs across in the bottom of the first inning and made it 3-0 in the third.
The Warriors picked up their first run in the fourth, but the Indians countered with four in the bottom of the inning to build a 7-1 cushion.
Sidney got two runs back in the sixth and added two more in the seventh.
Gilbert twirled a three-hitter, allowing just one walk and two earned runs as the Indians committed six errors.
The junior pitcher helped her own effort at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Aubel was also 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In addition to her trio of hits, Greeno had a hit and RBI. Macy Gibson chipped in with a hit and a run, and Natalie Donovan, Saylor Ayres and Brooklyn Gaurnier scored one run apiece.
Owego hosts Norwich Friday at 5 p.m.
