BINGHAMTON — Jordan Greeno and Sarah Terry wielded hot bats, and Lauren Gilbert and Taylor Dalton combined on a two-hitter as Owego dropped Chenango Forks, 7-1, in STAC action here Friday.
Dalton and Greeno singled in the top of the first for the game's initial run.
The Indians added three more in the third. Gilbert reached on an error and her courtesy runner, Jessalyn Corson, scored on a Greeno hit. Tracy and Carly Kirtland followed with base hits to load the bases, then scored on an error off the bat of Macy Gibson.
Alex Aubel reached on an error to start the fourth then, following a fielder's choice and fly out, Greeno doubled and scored on a Tracy single to push the lead to 6-0.
After Natalie Donovan and Gilbert singled to begin the sixth, the Blue Devils picked up a pair of outs. However, Tracy delivered an RBI single and Kirtland plated Corson on an error.
Greeno and Terry both went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Gilbert was 2-for-4 and Corson scored three times. Dalton and Donovan had one hit and one run apiece, and Kirtland added a hit.
Gilbert allowed one hit and one walk, struck out four and gave up one unearned run. Dalton pitched the final inning, surrendering one hit and one walk.
The two teams meet again Saturday at 11 a.m. at Owego.
