IAC GIRLS TRACK & FIELD: NEWARK VALLEY HOSTS CANDOR, NEWFIELD (2021-05-11)

Tioga County Sports Report
NEWARK VALLEY — Candor and Newfield squared off in an IAC South Small School meet which included Newark Valley.

Although the Cardinals competed against both teams, they did not count in the team scoring. The Trojans defeated Candor, 86-15.

RESULTS
Candor results
The understaffed Indians entered just eight of the 17 events.

Cadri Edwards, Kara Morse, Alexis Quick and Brianne Schweiger placed third in the 4x100 relay with a time of 1:05.8.

Morse added a third-place showing in the high jump, clearing 4-4.

Newark Valley results
The Cardinals swept the relays. They took the 4x100 in 58.7 seconds; Maris Aylesworth, Molly McCloskey, Leah Williams and Ashley Holt won the 4x400 (4:49); and Emma Smith, McCloskey, Addyson Osburn and Harley Switzer won the 4x800 relay (12:54.6).

Kathryn Simmons won the 100 hurdles (:18.5) and Kathryn Schanbacher was second (:19.9). In the 400 hurdles, Ashley Holt was first in 1:20.7.

Renee Riegel led a sweep of the 1500 (5:38.1), Switzer took second (5:51.2) and Breanna Brigham was third (6:00). Riegel also led a sweep of the 3,000 with a time of 12:40.5. Brigham placed second (14:47.5) and Monica Escalante was third (16:24.5).

Brigham finished second in the 400 in 1:17.5 and Escalante was third in 1:17.5.

Riegel won the 800 (2:40) and Smith was second (2:54.4).

Aylesworth was victorious in the 200 (:29.1) and Simmons was the runner-up (:29.5).

Williams finished second in the high jump at 4-6.

Kylee Carrier won the discus with a toss of 74-10 and was the runner-up in the shot put at 24-6 while Williams was third in the shot at 21-8 1/2.

Williams would win the triple jump with a leap of 33-9 3/4 and Fiona McMurray was third at 24-7 1/4.

Schanbacher was the runner-up in the long jump at 13-1 1/2.

Charlotte Dunn cleared seven feet to win the pole vault and Hailey Engbith was second at 5-6.

Candor and Newark Valley will compete in the Marathon Spring Fling Friday.
