OWEGO — The Owego boys and girls tennis teams held their home opener Tuesday, taking on Maine-Endwell on a windy and chilly day.

M-E emerged victorious in both matches, winning the girls clash, 6-1, and taking the boys event, 5-0.

GIRLS
Rachel Wood emerged as the Indians' lone winner, defeating Hannah Green, 9-5, at first singles.

"This was a big match for Rachael Wood," Owego coach Erica Haray said. "She won 9-5 vs. a tough opponent. The player she beat she lost to in the last Class B sectional tournament."

At second singles, Sophia Pelton downed Carmen Jorgensen, 9-5.

McKenna Seavey bested Alice Dang, 9-6, at third singles.

Amanda Bryla won at fourth singles, 9-1, over Zoe Zachary.

In doubles action, Gracelynn Brooks and Katherine Martin beat Holly Kersten and Taylor Pierce, 9-0, the match-up of No. 1 duos.

In second doubles, Ann Lin and Grace Vanderveergot the better of Ashleigh Gault and Allison Welch, 9-3.

At third doubles, Autumn Pellerito and Grace VanAuken defeated Madison Allen and Mia Jones, 9-1.

BOYS
The Spartans' Logan Howard topped Joshua Snyder, 9-0, in first singles.

In second singles, Strati Anastos bested Jonathan Davis, 9-4.

Ryan Verity downed Eli Martin, 9-3, at third singles.

M-E's No. 1 doubles tandem of Alex Ioannisci and Zach Kittle beat Damien Allen and Daniel Pawlak, 9-1.

At second doubles, Sean Ferguson and Jake Wunder defeated Aden Dinkins and Tobbe Welty, 9-0.

Owego visits Chenango Forks Thursday.
