SECTION IV BOYS LACROSSE: LACK OF INTENSITY COSTLY IN OWEGO SETBACK (2021-05-10)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — Chenango Valley rode an early advantage in momentum and the experience of its seniors and a trio of returning Section IV all-stars to a 14-4 Section IV boys lacrosse victory over Owego here Monday.

"We lacked intensity right from the beginning of the game," Owego coach Andy Race said. "We came out flat and they got the momentum on us early, and we could never really come back."

Warrior senior Cam Krisko scored four goals and classmate Rory Thompson recorded a goal and three assists to lead the charge. Junior Alex Jacobs also chipped in with an assist.

Also contributing to the CV victory were senior veterans Dom Testani and Jakob Emm with a hat trick apiece. Seniors Ryan Atkinson, Joe Kozlowski and Ethan Morgan tacked on one goal each.

"Face-offs were much better today," Race said. "We just got tired, too much up and down. Passing and catching was an issue early so we ended up going up and down the field a lot and got tired, and I think that led to our lack of intensity."

The Indians picked up a pair of goals from Jace Riegel, a goal and assist from Alex Brown, a goal by Aidan Both, and one assist each from Justin Brown and Matt Miller.

"Sean Heffernan played a great game on defense, had a really good match-up," Race added.

Owego (1-4) visits Watkins Glen (1-3) Tuesday.
