NEWARK VALLEY — Five Newark Valley players have earned spots on the IAC South Large School boys soccer all-star team.

A trio of NV seniors earned first-team accolades. They include forward Derrick Kalpokas, midfielder John Simmons and defender John Boldis.

Kalpokas led the Cardinals in scoring with 12 goals and three assists while Simmons accounted for seven goals and five assists. Boldis was a defensive leader for NV, which went 3-3 in division play and 5-3 overall.

Newark Valley's second-team picks were senior Sam Durand, who was also tabbed as a defensive leader by coach Mitch Thurston, and junior goal keeper Brandon Randell, who averaged 12 saves per game.
