ON TAP TODAY: IAC CHAMPIONSHIPS OWN THE SPOTLIGHT (2021-04-17)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — It's championship day with three Tioga County teams playing for IAC titles in boys soccer and volleyball. Also on the docket is the annual Newark Valley-Tioga football game.

BOYS SOCCER
Dryden at SVEC, 2 p.m.: In a rematch of last season's IAC Large School championship game, the Eagles will host the defending champs at Candor High School.

VOLLEYBALL
Moravia (8-1 IAC) at Candor (9-1, 7-0 IAC), 5 p.m.: The two-time defending IAC Small School champions are heavily favored in this match.

Trumansburg (8-1 IAC) at Newark Valley (9-1, 9-0 IAC), 5 p.m.: Last year's IAC Large School championship game was a 3-2 thriller in the Cardinals' favor.

FIELD HOCKEY
Newark Valley (3-7) vs. Deposit / Hancock at Windsor, 10 a.m.: The Cardinals won their previous meeting 10 days ago, 5-1.

Tioga at Owego (5-3), 1 p.m.: The final game of the 2021 Fall II season takes place at Christy J. Valvo Stadium

FOOTBALL
Tioga (4-0) at Newark Valley (2-2), 1:30 p.m.: The Tigers' late goal-line stand preserved a 24-20 come-from-behind victory last season and snapped a four-game losing streak against the Cardinals. NV and Tioga were expected to battle it out for the Section IV Class D title this season before COVID-19 nixed that possibility.

SVEC (4-0) vs. Onteora (1-1) at Sidney, 6:30 p.m.: The Section IV Eagles look to remain unbeaten when they take on the Section IX Eagles on Sidney's grass field.
