Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER / VESTAL — The SVEC field hockey team dropped a pair of 2-0 decisions Saturday and Monday, falling to Moravia at home over the weekend and to Vestal on the road Monday.

Vestal 2, SVEC 0
The defending Section IV Class B champion Golden Bears scored on a pair of penalty corners in the second quarter.

Kaitlyn Worobey found the cage with 10:50 and 4:03 remaining in the first half. Kiley Marconi picked up both assists.

Vestal took 24 shots to the Eagles' six and held an 11-2 advantage in corners.

SVEC goalie Bella Young collected 20 saves and the Eagles also had one defensive save. Two goalies combined for six saves for the Bears.

"We played hard against Vestal but we had to play a lot of defense," coach Abby Gentile said. "Bella was huge in goal for us making save after save until we could get the ball cleared and up to our forwards. We were able to get some shots off, but weren’t able to get around the Vestal goalie.

"It was an intense game for our girls and they really stepped up."

Moravia 2, SVEC 0
The Blue Devils scored twice in the second half.

Bailey Williamson tallied unassisted with 1:37 left in the third quarter. Heine scored on a corner with 2:15 to go in the game with Bella Banerjee getting the assist.

SVEC outshot Moravia, 7-2, but the Devils held a 7-2 advantage in corners

Young made two saves for SVEC and Brook Purdy had five saves for Moravia.

The Eagles visit Owego Friday night.
