COLLEGE CROWD: NV GRAD BERGHORN SCORES FIRST COLLEGIATE POINT (2021-03-31)

ROCHESTER — Newark Valley grad Marissa Berghorn recorded an assist in her first collegiate field hockey game, but Nazareth College dropped a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to Utica College in the Golden Flyers' season opener.

Berghorn, a freshman forward who started and played the entire game, took the restart following a Utica out of bounds and passed to Emilee Rosenberg at the corner of the cage. Rosenberg redirected the ball to tie the game in the 52nd minute and send it into overtime.

Nazareth plays at Houghton College Friday night.
