IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: S-VE WINS A PAIR AGAINST EDISON (2021-03-02)

TIOGA COUNTY — Spencer-Van Etten won a pair of IAC JV boys games against Edison recently, defeating the Spartans, 46-25, Saturday, and 55-32 Monday.

S-VE 55, EDISON 32
The Panthers broke a 12-12 deadlock with a 20-3 second-quarter run. Jonathan Garrison and Nathan Gillette put in six points each while Pavel Jofre and Jacek Stahl added four apiece.

Edison cut the lead to 43-32 in the third period on the strength of three 3-pointers, but S-VE held the Spartans scoreless in the final frame.

Gillette led all scorers with 14 points, Jofre contributed 13 and Garrison tallied 11. Jacek Stahl added eight, Ethan Ashby scored four, Tyler Stahl tacked on three and Brian Belanger added two.

S-VE 44, EDISON 25
S-VE held the Spartans to single digits in each of the first three quarters.

Jofre scored six of his game-high 18 points in three first eight minutes to give the Panthers a 10-5 lead.

The Panthers held Edison to two points in the next period to build an 18-7 advantage.

Jofre netted five points in the third quarter, then matched it in the fourth.

Jacek Stahl scored eight points in the win and Tyler Stahl pitched in with six. Ashby and Ryan Swayze added four apiece, and Belanger and Gillette added two each.
