(UPDATED W/PHOTOS) IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: S-VE RETURNS FROM QUARANTINE TO DEFEAT EDISON (2021-02-27)

ELMIRA HEIGHTS — In its first game since Feb. 17 due to a COVID-19 quarantine, Spencer-Van Etten outscored Edison by 13 points in the middle quarters to post a 49-36 IAC victory here Saturday.

Leading, 15-10, Jayden Grube, Matt Merrick and Tyler Doster scored four points apiece in the second period to give S-VE a 29-18 lead at intermission.

Marcus Brock pumped out eight points in the third quarter and the panthers held Edison to five points to increase the advantage to 40-23 with eight minutes to go.

Merrick added another six points in the final frame to finish with a game-high 15. Brock added 10, Doster tallied nine, Grube had six, Matthew Byrne pitched in with four and Aidan Swayze added a point.

Dylan Swartwood led the Spartans with 12 points and Jeremiah Parker scored 10.

S-VE (3-0) hosts Edison (0-6) Monday.
