TIOGA CENTER — Mackenna Nechwedowich and Bri Beebe combined to pump out 48 points to lead Newark Valley to a 76-34 IAC victory over Tioga here Saturday.

Nechwedowich went 7-for-9 at the free throw line and finished with a game-high 26 points. Beebe made three of her four foul shots and canned a trio of 3-pointers.

The Cardinals led, 16-12, after one period as Tioga kept things close with treys from Olivia Ayres, Ari Manwaring and Eve Wood. Manwaring matched Nechwedowich on the scoreboard as each player had five points.

Nechwedowich cranked out 11 points in the second quarter, and Beebe and Cha Gardner added five apiece as NV pulled ahead, 38-22, at the half.

Beebe erupted for 12 third-quarter points as the Cardinals poured in 27 to ice the game, building a 65-24 cushion.

Cha Gardner contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot to the win, Hannah Ferguson had six points, two assists and two steals, Gracie Gardner pitched in with four points, nine boards and a block, Hayley Beebe had two points and five steals, Cymbri Jefferson tacked on two points, Allie Walker added one point, three assists and a block, Allie Wandell dished out three assists, and Rachel Walker handed out two assists. Nechwedowich added seven boards, four blocks, two assists and two steals, and Bri Beebe also had seven steals, three assists and a block.

Wood led Tioga with seven points, Ayres had five, Abby Foley, Gabby Foley, Austyn Vance, and Manwaring added four apiece, and Juli Bellis, Reese Howey and Mariah Nichols added two each.

Newark Valley (7-1) visits Candor (3-4) Tuesday.
